Roommate Agreement
Download your guide
Your Roommate Agreement is a fillable PDF — eight pages of prompts you and your roommate answer together, with blanks you can type straight into on a phone, tablet or computer. No app, no account, nothing to buy.
How to open and fill it in
Tap the button and the PDF opens in a new tab. Save it to your device first, then fill it in from the saved copy — answers typed into a preview window are easy to lose before they're written to the file.
- iPhone or iPad: tap the share icon and choose Save to Files. Open it from the Files app, tap any blank line, and type.
- Android: the file saves to Downloads. Open it with Drive PDF Viewer or Adobe Acrobat Reader, tap a blank line, and type.
- Mac: it opens in Preview. Click a blank line, type, then File → Save.
- Windows: it opens in Microsoft Edge or Acrobat Reader. Click a blank line, type, then Save as.
The checkboxes work the same way — click or tap to tick one. When you're finished, save the file and send a copy to your roommate so you each have the same version.
Rather do it on paper? Print it blank and fill it in by hand. It's built to work either way.
Fill it out together, early — ideally in the first week, before anything has had a chance to become an argument. The point isn't the paperwork; it's having said the quiet things out loud once, while everyone is still being polite. Tape it inside a closet door and revisit it when something changes.
